Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre

Cross-Country Ski Trails - The 33 km of trails at Dawn Mountain are groomed regularly for classic and skating on an as needed basis using a 2018 Prinoth Bison and Bombardier 275 Snow Cats. Our SBS (Side-by-Side) is a Polaris Ranger, which we use to renovate our skate lanes pulling our YTS (Ginzu Groomer). This set-up is also used for our classic-only trails. We aim to groom within 24 hours of snowfalls and every weekend to provide very good to excellent conditions. Expect soft powder snow when it is snowing. Watch for natural hazards including wildlife on trails. It rarely rains as our temperatures are consistently 4 degrees lower than the temperatures reported in the town of Golden.

Dogs - We do have one dog trail, Dipsy Doodle.  Dipsy Doodle is the 1 km trail that heads south from the main stadium back towards the road you drove in on. You can connect Dipsy Doodle with the ski hill groomed trails along the roads and among the residences. Dogs are NOT permitted on any other trails, including the snowshoe trails. Please avoid having dogs in the stadium or at the Chalet.

A suggested alternative location for cross-country skiing with your dog is Cedar Lake road (not track-set).

Snowshoeing - We maintain a 4.6 km network of snowshoe trails accessible from the Chalet. Snowshoes and walking poles can be rented from Dawn Mountain Rentals.

Dawn Mountain Chalet - The Golden Nordic Ski Club maintains a beautiful, geothermal-heated log chalet for members and guests to warm up, have a warm drink or lunch, and to get changed before/after skiing. Dawn Mountain Rentals is located in the Chalet with cross-country skate and classic ski equipment and snowshoes. The facility has washrooms, a change room, a self-serve kitchenette (microwave, toaster oven, sink, dishes, kettle, hot drinks for a donation), tables and chairs, couches, and a ski rack. There is an outhouse in the parking lot. There are two electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot.

Golden Nordic Club gratefully acknowledges that we work, live and play on the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Peoples, which they share with the Secwepemc Peoples and which is the home to the Métis Nation Columbia River Society.
